Beautiful Crochet Mandala
This is a magnificent floral crochet mandala, with a beautiful yellow center and terrific pops of pink!
Meet the Maker
Ginny McGaw from Michigan writes this message to Wink’s family:
“I did not know her, but her story has touched me. I made this mandala in her honor. May she be at peace.”
Words by Wink
In November 2014, Wink said about her free Verona shrug crochet pattern:
“This shrug is VERY easy to make, so if you’re a beginner in crochet, this is the perfect project for you to try out your first garment! This is not so much a pattern, it’s more of a recipe. There are a lot of variables that you can change to make this shrug the way you want it, and to fit your body. But I promise it’s not complicated to figure out how to do that.”
About Depression
One purpose of this project is to raise awareness about depression so each post will end with some facts, thoughts or quotes about depression, suicide and/or mental health. There is a lot of information out there about nutrition to improve depression. This can vary a lot from person to person but I thought today I’d provide a list of some of the foods that commonly make depression symptoms worse:
- Alcohol
- Both refined sugar and artificial sweeteners
- Processed carbs (like white bread)
- Hydrogenated oils and trans fats (think deep-fried foods)
- Too much sodium
- Caffeine
Source: 7 foods that may contribute to your depression
All contributions to Mandalas for Marinke are welcome and will help raise awareness about depression while honoring her work in the same way that this great contribution has done today. Details to join here.
Sodium I didn’t know that…I been having a lot of like cheese combos…thanks for sharing that food list…
It’s tough to know all of the right good things to do for ourselves, isn’t it?!
