These are magnificent. What ashame I never got to know Marinke or her work. I’m a sufferer of depression and every time I see or make something so beautiful and bright it helps to lift my mood.
The big issue for me is the need for companionship the need to share and keep learning. Unfortunately crochet can be a lonely but beautiful craft/art form – there is a need for the coming together of a community of like minded people.
You can so easily learn from u tube how to crochet but again in isolation.
Here where I live in south Brisbane I’m finding it difficult to find a community to join and interact with.
My point is yes crochet good for depression but not in isolation. We are a species who need company.
I want to thank Marinke for her post death work to help bring like minded people together.
I have been crocheting since I was 10 self taught and only recently discovered this vibrant mandala form of crochet. I love it brings sunshine into my day.
