My regular featured crochet Instagram posts will resume next week but I wanted to dedicate this week to honoring Wink of A Creative Being who died from suicide last week. If you don’t know about her loss, you can read her sister’s blog post here and my initial reaction here. It is a huge loss for the crochet community world and the world as a whole and it has impacted many people deeply.
#MandalasForMarinke
I’ve created a remembrance project for Wink called #MandalasForMarinke. My hope is that it will honor her life, allow her designs to keep inspiring people, stitch together the crochet community in a collaborative act of healing and raise awareness about depression. All are invited to contribute. Many people are sharing their crochet mandalas first on Instagram, tagging them with #MandalasForMarinke. Check out that hashtag to see these beautiful work.
Here are the crochet mandala photos I’ve made so far that I’ve shared there on Instagram with the hashtag:
#MandalasForWink
This is a separate project that I’m happy to let people know about in which anyone can take a photo of a mandala and tag it with #MandalasForWink to honor her. I’m happy to welcome any of these contributions to also be sent in for the MandalasForMarinke project. There are many more photos under that hashtag than just under the #MandalasForMarinke hashtag so be sure to check that tag out on Instagram as well for further inspiration.

#WearingFlowersInMyHairForWink
On July 2nd, Instagrammers came together and took photos of themselves wearing flowers in their hair as a tribute to Wink. The very last photo she posted to Instagram was this lovely photo of herself where she said that wearing flowers in her hair was something that made her happy.
You can check out that hashtag to see all of the lovely flowers, many of which were crocheted flowers, that were worn in Wink’s memory. Here’s one by kelly_green72 that was also shared with the #crochetconcupiscence tag:
