Beautiful Crochet Mandala

Priscilla's Crochet Contribution to Mandalas for Marinke

My favorite part of this beautiful spoke mandala is the star that’s been added to the center of it. I like to think of Wink’s light as a star in the sky still shining upon us years from now. The lovely combinations of blues and yellows and white add to this feeling of a star in the sky.

Meet the Maker

Priscilla's Crochet Contribution to Mandalas for Marinke

This star-rific crochet mandala contribution comes to us from the Netherlands by Priscilla of Priscillicious. She writes:

What a wonderful and highly creative person has left this world. I will keep crocheting her patterns to keep her spirit alive.

Rustzacht lieve Wink …”

Words by Wink

Wink seemed to love her home and often shared photographs taken through the windows there along with the occasional experiences of being a homeowner. Some of the things that Wink wrote about home:

  • I like being home. I have been home for the past few years, and it is my sanctum sanctorum, it is where I feel safe, it is where I get inspired and it is where I like to be.”
  • I love my new space; it’s making me want to work harder and create new things, and that, in my book, is definitely a plus!”
  • “We’ve been having a storm here last night; thankfully the trees remain standing but the wind is still blowing hard! It’s days like these when I’m most thankful that I work from home.”
  • Loving the home that we built together and counting my many blessings!”

About Depression

Priscilla's Crochet Contribution to Mandalas for Marinke

One purpose of this project is to raise awareness about depression so each post will end with some facts, thoughts or quotes about depression, suicide and/or mental health. Here’s a quote that resonated with me:

Depression follows me like a shadow. Sometimes it’s noon and I can’t see that shadow. Sometimes it’s twilight and the shadow is long and dark. I know I can’t outrun that shadow. It’s part of who I am. But I can try to keep it as small as possible.”

It comes from Alissa Bowman in an interview with Gretchen Rubin, both authors on self-improvement/ happiness.
