Today’s stunning selection of crochet mandalas for Mandalas for Marinke project comes to us from the very talented Carolyn Christmas of Pink Mambo.
Carolyn shares on her blog:
“I’ve been a crochet designer, writer, marketer, magazine and book editor, tech editor, teacher, author and publisher. I’ve basically lived and breathed crochet most of my life. But I’m looking forward, not back, and am most excited about my new work.”
She adds about her site:
“Pink Mambo is the culmination of all my years in the crochet business. … I love pink, and crocheting one step at a time reminds me of dancing the mambo one step at a time. You practice and you finally get it and everything goes smoothly!”
Carolyn also sells her crochet patterns on Gourmet Crochet, where we further learn that she
“has been crocheting, knitting, sewing, writing, painting and otherwise making all manner of things since a very young age.
Following in the footsteps of several generations of women painters, writers and quilt-makers in her family, and endeavoring to be an inspiration to her three daughters, Carolyn will no doubt continue to make things for a very long time.”
And elsewhere around the web Carolyn shares:
“My husband and I live and work in our tiny home under the big sky of the Texas Hill Country, where a llama peeking in the window, the mail carrier passing by on the dirt road, and the fussing of mockingbirds are the sights and sounds of our world.
As much as I love the country life, frequent visits to the city keep me inspired with the energy of art, food, shopping and most of all, people.”
You can find Carolyn on Ravelry, Instagram, and Facebook.
I watch a lot of films, including films about depression, and I think that they can provide interesting insights into the condition. I especially like documentaries, because I think they’re so honest, but there are some great feature films about depression as well. If that’s something that interests you, you might want to take a peek at the following lists:
- Taste of Cinema’s 30 Best Movies About Depression and 15 Best Movies About Suicide
- 10 Movies About Depression from About.com
- IMDB’s 10 best movies about depression/self-harm
- Southern Vision’s 9 Best Films About Suicide
Some of the ones I’ve seen and liked on these lists are Sylvia, Helen, Prozac Nation, The Virgin Suicides, and Girl, Interrupted. Also not on these lists but one I highly recommend is My Week with Marilyn (about Marilyn Monroe).
