Here’s another really special contribution to the Mandalas for Marinke project, a crochet art piece on canvas made up of several crochet mandalas turned into charming character faces. This one made me smile so much as soon as I opened the package!
This piece comes from Kerry in Australia who shared that she’s not entirely sure how this piece came about but that it just naturally evolved. She writes:
“I wanted to create something that was, as you say fun and colourful, because that was I feel what Wink was … A fun and colourful person and so loving and these are qualities that those of us who live each day with the Black Dog are like inside of us. We sometimes need reminding of that.”
She adds:
“I was going to give this to a local women’s clinic but felt it really belonged with you and the project and then to go on to wherever it will end up. My hope is that this piece will be a blessing to others.”
It certainly is, it’s a blessing for me to see it already! I’ve taken lots of pictures of it to help you smile today, too. Take a look:
For the depression awareness portion of this post, I wanted to remind you about The Black Dog video, which I shared in the very fist Mandalas for Marinke post; it’s a really, really terrific description of what depression is and great way to educate others about the experience of depression.
