Beautiful Crochet Mandalas
These two crochet mandalas came together with special love from the maker for the I Love Holland pattern by Wink.
Meet the Maker
Maker Dianne45 on Ravelry (from Norway) says:
“Three reasons to do some mandalas:
1. When I saw Marinke’s “I Love Holland Dutch Tulips Crochet Mandala”, I just had to try it. It’s so pretty, so perfect. I made two – one to send and one to keep. I really love that pattern!
2. I’ve got several chronic diseases and I have days when my crocheting or knitting is the main reason to get up in the morning. It pulls me through the day.
3. I could spend more time on housework … but a mandala is something to keep and enjoy … the dust is back tomorrow!
Words by Wink
Wink often shared photos on Instagram of things she was loving as she shopped, with captions like:
“I’m currently in vintage ribbon and lace heaven!”
and
“If you’re looking for button heaven; it’s right here in Amersfoort!”
About Depression
One purpose of this project is to raise awareness about depression so each post ends with some facts, thoughts or quotes about depression, suicide and/or mental health. As I mentioned yesterday, today is Mental Illness Awareness Week, but there are also tons of other days, weeks and months intended to raise awareness about this issue. October is Depression Health Screening Month, with October 8th specifically devoted to National Depression Screening Day (here in the US) and October 10th is World Mental Health Day. See a calendar of mental health observances here.
All contributions to Mandalas for Marinke are so appreciated. They help raise awareness about depression while honoring her work in the same way that this great contribution has done today.
